Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

Project Description:

The proponent proposes to construct and operate two additional asphalt storage tanks at their existing liquid asphalt storage terminal located in Come By Chance. The first liquid asphalt storage tank would have a 7000 tonne capacity while the second would have 1000 tonne capacity for the handling and storage of asphalt cement, also known as ‘bitumen’, used in the road construction industry. The project will employ approximately 12 people during the construction period. The project will provide road construction companies in the area with an alternate source of liquid asphalt cement. The construction period is expected to be three months beginning Spring 2013.

  • March 12, 2013 - The undertaking was registered.
  • April 17, 2013 - Deadline for public comments.
  • April 22, 2013 - The minister’s decision is due.
  • May 9, 2013 - The Minister Announced that the project is released.
