Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

Project Description:

The proposal is to develop a cranberry operation south of the Town of Botwood, adjacent to Route 350 and east of Peters Pond. The total area of the proposal is 40 hectares, which includes 24 1.2 hectare cranberry field beds. Construction will consist of cranberry bed development, an irrigation pond, a sediment pond, two auxiliary buildings, water control structures, and 600 metres of access road. Harvesting consists of flooding each field, dislodging the cranberries with a beater and gathered by a boom. The project is scheduled to commence upon approval.

  • May 8, 2009 - The undertaking was registered.
  • June 12, 2009 - Public comments are due.
  • June 22, 2009 - The Minister's decision is due.
  • July 29, 2009 - The Minister Released the Project.
