Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

  • Project Description: The proponent proposes to harvest a total of approximately 24,400 cubic metres of mature to over-mature timber, representing a total of approximately 213 hectares at Sandy Lake , south-west of Grand Falls-Windsor. To access this area, approximately 5.0 kilometres of new operational road will be constructed. The proposed harvest is outside the current five-year operating plan for Forest Management District 11.
  • July 6, 2006 - The undertaking was registered.
  • August 10, 2006 - Public comments are due.
  • August 19 2006 - The Minister's decision is due.
  • October 4, 2006 - The Minister announced the project has been released from further environmental assessment review.
