Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

  • The proponent has proposed an amendment to the existing Five Year Management Plan to permit flexibility for three existing Crown operators to fill 2001/2002 permits. The area is submitted as an alternative to originally proposed areas which may not be accessed due to unfavourable terrain and is located in the vicinity of Goose Cove on the Content Peninsula. The area covers approximately 328 ha of productive forest within a total area of approximately 810 ha and involves a harvest of approximately 20,000 cubic meters of merchantable softwood. Construction of approximately 7.5 km of new class C-2 access road will be required. 
  • April 25, 2001 - The undertaking was registered.
  • June 29, 2001 - The Minister announced that the project was released from environmental assessment.
