Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

  • The proponent plans to expand the existing diesel generating plant in Charlottetown, Labrador to 2.28 megawatts. The proposed increase in generating capacity will be obtained through installation of two new generating units at the existing diesel plant. One generating unit will be installed to replace an existing unit and the other will be a mobile unit installed adjacent to the existing generating plant. Planned completion date for the plant expansion is early Spring 2001. 
  • February 6, 2001 - The undertaking was registered.
  • March 22, 2001 - The Minister announced that the project was released from environmental assessment.
