Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

Project Description:

The proponent has submitted a proposal to develop a new eight hectare cranberry farm near Bishop’s Falls off the Bay d’Espoir Highway. Year one of two will see a 0.7 kilometre access road off the Bay d’Espoir Highway, settling ponds constructed and four hectares of producing cranberry fields developed. The additional four hectares of cranberry fields will be developed in year two.  Berry fields will be constructed using excavators, dozers, loaders, and dump trucks.  Bog will be stripped to create level fields, settling ponds and ditches and sand spread evenly on the fields.

  • February 18, 2016 - The undertaking was registered.
  • March 25, 2016 - Deadline for public comments.
  • April 3, 2016 - The Minister's Decision is due.
