Project Description:

The timber harvesting amendment to the existing Five Year Operating Plan will open an area for domestic harvesting near the community of Raleigh on the Great Northern Peninsula. The Raleigh Domestic Cutting Block (D18-01) borders on the northeast end of the Raleigh Municipal Boundary and covers an area of 105 hectares of productive forest land, providing access to an additional 3,312 cubic metres of timber. The timber will be harvested by domestic cutters for fuelwood and sawlogs. Harvesting activities will commence in the winter of 2011.

  • November 2, 2010 - The undertaking was registered.
  • December 9, 2010 - Public comments are due.
  • December 17, 2010 - The Minister's decision is due.
  • January 27, 2011 - The undertaking was released.
