Project Description:

The proponent proposes to construct a salvage and recycling yard on the north side of Route 73, New Harbour Barrens, Trinity Bay. The proposed site is approximately 250 meters to the east of the intersection of Route 80 and Route 73 and is located to the west of Island Pond. The 1.8 hectare site will serve as a depot for the collection, disposal and recycling of metals and hazardous materials. The depot will accept discarded vehicles, white goods (ie. appliances), scrap metal and hazardous materials (ie. used oil, batteries). The site will include a 15 metre by 9 metre building to serve as an office and place to dismantle vehicles and remove fluids prior to their storage, crushing and shipment off site.

  • December 11, 2010 - The Minister's decision is due.
  • February 29, 2016 - Project Withdrawn.
