Project Description:

[The 9-hole Golf Course Expansion Resubmission has been significantly changed by the proponent from the previous submission (Reg. 1175) to attempt to address environmental concerns or for other reasons.]

The proponent proposes an expansion of the Grande Meadows Golf Course at Frenchman’s Cove from 9-holes to 18-holes. The golf course is located in Frenchman’s Cove Provincial Park on the Burin Peninsula and borders the Great Garnish Barasway. The proposed 9-holes will utilize three areas for the expansion, including: two holes (three hectares of land) near Route 213 via access by a bridge and reclaiming land from the barasway; two holes (2.3 hectares of land) to be reclaimed from the barasway on the southwest side and adjacent to the existing 9-hole course; and, five holes (10 hectares of land) on the northwest side and adjacent to the park campsites. The four hectares of barasway (total) to be infilled will require approximately 30,000 cubic metres of material

  • July 18, 2007 - Public comments are due.
  • July 26, 2007 - The Minister's decision is due.
  • February 27, 2008 - The Minister advises the proponent that an Environmental Impact Statement is required.
  • October 30, 2017 - Project Expired.
