Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

Project Description:

The proposed site of six hectares is located on Big Hill, Patrick’s Cove, approximately 0.5 kilometres from Route 100. The operator plans to expand from 60 to 1,000 female breeders (each female breeder has one litter of 4-5 kits on average per year). Construction will include land clearing, ATV trail upgrades, four mink sheds (30 metres by 5.5 metres), a manure pad (6 metres by 4 metres) and a cold/general storage shed (approximately 60 metres by 60 metres).

  • June 11, 2007 - The undertaking was registered.
  • July 18, 2007 - Public comments are due.
  • July 26, 2007 - The Minister's decision is due.
  • December 4, 2012 -  The project is withdrawn.
