Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

  • Project Description: The proponent plans to establish a 1,500 breeder mink five kilometers south of Frederickton, Notre Dame Bay (each female breeder has one litter of 4-5 kits on average per year). The land is located adjacent to Beaver Hill at a former quarry site off Route 332. Construction will include three 9 metre by 43 metre breeder sheds, a 6 metre by 9 metre storage shed, a 15 metre by 12 metre manure pad and small electrical shed.
  • May 28, 2007 - The undertaking was registered.
  • July 2, 2007 - Public comments are due.
  • July 12, 2007 - The Minister's decision is due.
  • August 15, 2007 - The Minister announced the project has been released from further environmental assessment review.
