Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

  • Project Description: The proponent intends to expand his existing mink farm operation at Cormack from 1100 to 2,500 female mink breeders over a three year period starting in 2007. Each female breeder has one litter of 4-5 kits on average per year.The Na-tallie Mink Ranch is located in the municipality of Cormack on land that consists of approximately 2.5 hectares at the end of Birch Avenue . The proponent proposes to construct a mink shed 120 metres by 11 metres in 2007; a pelting facility/storage/lunch room of 12 metres by 12 metres in 2007; a mink shed 120 metres by 11 metres in 2009; and another mink shed of 120 metres by 11 metres in 2011. Pending approvals construction will begin immediately.
  • May 7, 2007 - The undertaking was registered.
  • June 14, 2007 - Public comments are due.
  • June 21, 2007 - The Minister's decision is due.
  • June 28, 2007 - The Minister announced the project has been released from further environmental assessment review.
