Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

  • Project Description: The proponent proposes to develop a 25 site campground on approximately 2.4 hectares of private land adjacent to Robinsons River (a scheduled salmon river) in the community of Robinsons, in Western Newfoundland Each site is proposed to be 9 metres by 15 metres and associated infrastructure is planned to include water and electrical, as well as a shower and restroom building, with a playground for the centre of the development.Access to the site is proposed from Route 404.Construction is planned to commence in the fall of 2006 and be completed for the opening of the 2007 camping season.
  • September 1, 2006 - The undertaking was registered.
  • October 11, 2006 - Public comments are due.
  • October 16, 2006 - The Minister's decision is due.
  • November 24, 2006 - The Minister announced the project has been released from further environmental assessment review, subject to a condition.
