Golden Gullies Access Road & Cottage Development

Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

  • Project Description: The proponent proposes construction of a 2.25 kilometre access road for the development of approximately 30 unserviced cottage lots at Golden Gullies Pond, Avalon Peninsula . Golden Gullies Pond is located on the south side of the Trans-Canada Highway between Roaches Line and Hodgewater Line exchanges and about 2 kilometres north of Mahers. The proposed cottage lots will be between 0.5 and 0.75 hectares in size, covering an area of approximately 18 hectares. Work is proposed to start in late July and will take approximately 4 weeks to complete.
  • June 6, 2006 - The undertaking was registered.
  • July 13, 2006 - Public comments are due.
  • July 21, 2006 - The Minister's decision is due.
  • July 28, 2006 - The Minister announced the undertaking is released from further environmental assessment review, subject to conditions.
