Springdale Fuel Storage Bulk Facility

Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

Project Description:

  • The proponent plans to relocate a fuel storage bulk facility to a new site in the Town of Springdale's Industrial Park on Little Bay Road. The facility is proposed to replace the existing storage tanks on 150 Main Street in the Town of Springdale. Planned construction for the project will include four above ground double walled storage tanks ranging in size from 13,500 litres to 90,000 litres.
  • The tanks will be used for short term storage of home heating fuels, gasoline, diesel and lubes supplied by Imperial Oil Limited before distributing to customers in the Green Bay and White Bay area. All piping for the project will be above ground and construction will also include a 2,000 litre oil water separator, office building, warehouse, and security fence around the 0.44 hectare site. The proposed site is approximately 150 metres from Indian Brook. It is scheduled to begin upon completion of the environmental assessment review and construction is expected to take approximately two months to complete.
  • January 18, 2002 - The undertaking was registered.
  • February 22, 2002 - Public comments are due.
  • March 5, 2002 - The Minister announced that the undertaking was released from environmental assessment.
