Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

Project Description:

  • The proponent intends to construct an 18-hole public golf course at Bellevue between the residential area to the north, a Crown land cottage area to the south, Route 201 to the east, and the waters of Broad Lake to the west. In addition to the 18 tees, fairways, and greens; there will be a practice tee with five greens, an irrigation system, a sewage treatment system, club/dining facilities, a registration office and pro-shop, an equipment storage area, and related transportation/parking infrastructure.
  • The proponent expects to start construction in the early fall of 2001 with 15 persons employed. During operation (seasonal), there will be 16 persons employed. The proponent hopes to have the first 9 holes operational by the spring of 2003.
  • June 8, 2001 - The project was registered.
  • August 13, 2001 - The Minister announced that an environmental preview report is required.
  • September 17, 2001 - The Minister announced that an environmental assessment committee had been appointed.
  • November 5, 2001 - The Minister issued the Guidelines for the preparation of the environmental preview report.
  • April 18, 2002 - Project Withdrawn from environmental assessment process.
