Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

  • The proponent proposes to harvest approximately 58,000 cubic metres of mature and over mature timber in the Padille Pond area and construct approximately 13.75 kilometres of class "C" forest access roads. Construction of the roads is required to access the timber and to transport the wood from the blocks to the Stephenville Plant. No harvesting will take place inside the Pine Marten Wildlife Areas. 
  • August 31, 2000 - The undertaking was registered.
  • June 5, 2001 - The Minister announced that the project was released from environmental assessment.
